Review: The Grand Royal Swiss Hotel: A Top Luxury Hotel in Kisumu

For a while now, I have developed more and more familiarity with the Grand Royal Swiss Hotel. My latest trip to Kisumu, I was lucky enough to stay at this magnificent facility located just a few kilometers from the CBD along Kisumu Kakamega Road. As far as location goes, it’s quite hard to beat!

From the moment I pulled up to the parking lot, to the moment I checked out, I was treated exceptionally well. After handing over my vehicle and checking in, the staff were kind enough to offer me a glass of welcome juice at the reception. Shortly I was ushered into a lift and went up to the first floor to view the room. For this stay I chose a suite on the first floor with Grand Glamorous Lounge Level access. From the moment I opened the door, I felt a sense of luxury. The room’s view was looking out at the incredible Nandi Hills.

In the bathroom I was surprised by exquisite details in it; a well-placed sink with a large vanity and separated shower and toilet stalls. It had array of amenities including, shampoos, and dental-kit, different kinds of towels, mirrors etc. The bed is king size theere was an air conditioner. I loved the overall style and feel of the bathroom which was very pleasant and bright.

Just within the same floor of my room was The Grand Glamorous Lounge. This exclusive lounge was definitely my favorite part of the whole property as it has a super extensive ambience and theme. Here I could comfortably sit on the high stools at the bar counter and order my Cappuccino as I listen to the piped music. What was also special about this outlet is that it has an extended terrace that offers superb view of Nandi Hills and an evening breeze. I bet this is the most favorite spot especially in the evening when the sun goes down. If you like to drink and enjoy the finer things in life, this is the place to go! Throughout the entire stay, all the food and drink were fantastic.

Another feature of the lounge I liked was the fine dining restaurant with a breathtaking ambience. My dinner was served here. The staff were the cherry on top of the entire Grand Glamorous Lounge experience as they were super pleasant.

Nothing creates a nice feeling like an eco-friendly environment. I must say Grand Royal Swiss Hotel is a home of nature and life. Meticulously done lawns, elegant waterfall, beautiful gardens, and the trees are just mind blowing. The grounds offer helicopter landing pads.

Another area where Grand Royal Swiss Hotel excelled was with their Health Club facilities. This entailed the fitness and spa services. Though still new, the Hotel has a well-equipped gym; I tried myself on the trade Mill before heading over to the changing rooms which connected to the spa. This area had a nice design equipped with steam rooms and saunas. As I left I passed-by the Aquarius pool area on my way out; it’s another gem in this facility.

During the stay we had a chance to have a drink at the Bonds Bar next to the lobby as well as a nice dinner at their Flavours Restaurant.

All in all, I greatly enjoyed my time at The Grand Royal Swiss Hotel. The hotel offers a fantastic all-around product and service. Its staff really make this property what it is, magnificent. At the time of my visit, the property was not fully done as some areas such as the Presidential suite wasn’t complete, I am told it will be fully operational soon and I can’t wait to revisit after the update takes place! Either before or after the update, I highly recommend you to visit The Grand Royal Swiss Hotel, Kisumu.
